To be a Mason is to be a traveller.

Travelling means creating another home; either a short-term home or (if you return to the same place often enough) a home-away-from-home.

We, at Square & Compass Promotions, in many ways consider ourselves to be professional travellers.

These travels have taken us to many amazing places throughout North America and, if you count virtual travel, throughout the world.

Over the coming weeks, we will be using this platform to discuss highlights of/from these travels, this week, we talk about one such “created home”

If we have a “Created” Masonic Home-Away-From-Home, it’s Glenview Illinois (including Chicago, Illinois)!

I am writing this in Glenview North Motel 6, located steps from the best breakfast in the Chicago area: Elly’s Pancake House.

Also located less than 5 miles from the Glenview Masonic Temple.

Glenview, Illinois may seem like an out-of-the-way village to consider a “created” home (masonic or otherwise) but it is for me.

I would also add that Chicago itself, in much the same way, is a created home.

The circumstances by which it became a created home are accidental…as many of the best things are.
